Sacramento Republic FC recently clinched their place in the 2015 USL playoffs with a win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2. To celebrate the second consecutive playoff appearance, ICS is taking a little look back at both the 2015 and 2014 seasons By The Numbers.
Is it a little too early to be doing something like this, with the 2015 season not over yet? Maybe. Are we going to let that stop us? Absolutely not. So with that being said, let’s jump right into it.
4- With Tommy Stewart’s recent win, Sacramento Republic FC players have won the USL Goal of the Month award 4 times in 2015. Extending to 2014 brings that total up to 7.
9- A total of 9 players have started at right midfield in league play for Sacramento Republic in 2015 alone. In addition to Max Alvarez — who is by far the most frequent face at right midfield over the Republic’s history — Octavio Guzman, Gabe Gonzalez, Joaquin Rivas, Danny Barrera, Tommy Thompson, Gabe Gissie, Justin Braun, and David Estrada have all held down the right wing spot at least once in 2015.
7- The highest number of fouls a Republic player has committed in a single game is 7, a record held by Max Alvarez. What, were you expecting someone else to hold that record?
9- Sacramento Republic have scored 9 of their 35 goals in 2015 from outside of the 18 yard box, including one from way outside the box scored by Rodrigo Lopez. You may remember it.
50- With 3 games left in the 2015 regular season and a total of 41 points earned so far, the Republic have a maximum potential points of 50. How close they get to reaching that maximum depends on their performance against Portland Timbers 2, Orange County Blues, and Arizona United.
37- The record for consecutive appearances in league play by a Sacramento Republic player stands at 38 and is currently held by right back Emrah Klimenta. Usually one would expect a goalkeeper to hold that record, as they usually play just about every game without fail. But while Patrick McLain is high up the list with 24 consecutive appearances, no player on the Republic holds a candle to Klimenta. He is as close to a constant for Sacramento as is is possible to be for a player. Think back to any match in the Republic’s history, and chances are Klimenta was there, tearing up the right flank at some point in the proceedings.
93- Sacramento Republic have scored 93 goals in league play from the first kick of 2014 up until their most recent match.
40(%)- When taking into account both his goals (22) and assists (15), Rodrigo Lopez has been involved in 37 of Republic’s 93 league goals, or 40%.
329,181- To wrap things up nice and neatly, we present arguably the most impressive — certainly the biggest — number yet: Sacramento Republic’s total attendance through their 29 home games in both USL league play and playoffs. For those curious, that makes for an average attendance of 11,351.
