Sacramento Republic FC announced on Wednesday their stadium will now be called Heart Health Park, as their partnership with local non-profit health insurance company Western Health Advantage is expanded.

Instead of using the company’s name to hold the naming rights for the stadium, the parties opted to promote the cause of heart health, “part of a collaborative effort to call attention to the importance of community health and wellbeing,” according to a release.

“Home field advantage is not just about our stadium on gameday, but the people and communities throughout the region every day. Our mission is to make Sacramento an incredible place to live, work and play, includes prioritizing the health of our family, friends and neighbors,” said Republic FC Owner and CEO Kevin Nagle in a statement. “Thanks to the incredible leadership by Western Health Advantage, we will make a bold statement about community wellbeing with Heart Health Park and continue our work to invest in Sacramento.”

The club and company will roll out several initiatives related to the new stadium name, including offering heart-healthy concessions options at home games, have every staff member certified in CPR in the case of an emergency, and host workout and public health events at the stadium as a community center for Sacramento residents.

Sac Republic will kick off their home slate at Heart Health Park next Wednesday, May 12, when they host Las Vegas Lights FC.
