Last Tuesday we asked the you all who was, in your opinion, Sacramento Republic FC’s Most Valuable Player and offered four choices: Mickey Daly, Justin Braun, Rodrigo Lopez, and Ivan Mirković.
We asked and you answered.
From the early going it was clear that two players were the favorites: Rodrigo Lopez and Ivan Mirković.
In fact, the two had the exact same number of votes at one time.
However, as the voting went on Lopez regained and widened the lead, eventually winning with just under 54% of votes.
With that result, we at ICS are happy to say that Rodrigo Lopez is our fan-voted Sacramento Republic FC Most Valuable Player.
Although the other candidates were significant contributors to the Republic’s sophomore season, Lopez’s team-leading 10 goals and 5 assists helped put him ahead of the others.
While there was no fan-voted MVP last year, it is safe to say that Lopez was also the Republic’s 2014 MVP, making this the second time in a row he has earned the honor. Unfortunately, it is also the last time, seeing as he recently announced that he will not be returning to the Republic for next season.
“I am honored to have been voted MVP for the 2015 season,” Lopez told ICS today. “Thank you for sending me off in a great way. I will always love Sac Republic FC. Two of the best years of my life were here in Sacramento. Best fans in (the) country!”
