The USL’s Arizona United SC has announced today the hiring of Frank Yallop as the second head coach in club history, inking a three-year deal.
The former Ipswich Town iron man and MLS original won MLS cup as a head coach in 2001 and 2003 and has enjoyed limited success since, peaking with a 2012 campaign at the San Jose Earthquakes which produced a Supporters Shield and Yallop’s second Coach of the Year honor. He coached the Canadian men’s national team from 2004-2006.
Yallop most recently coached the Chicago Fire where he oversaw a record of 13-26-24. He was relieved of his post on September 20th.
Arizona United has been without a head coach since parting ways with inaugural boss Michael Dellorusso on September 25th. Arizona compiled a record of 20-29-7 in two seasons under Dellorusso. The club has yet to make a playoff appearance.

I think it’s an excellent appointment by the club.
