Sacramento Republic by the Numbers - Week 9

A US Open Cup match and an international friendly set the tone for this week's By the Numbers.

A week without USL play saw the Republic change some roster slots, advance in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, and take home a win over Liverpool's U-21 side.  Even without USL play, there are still numbers to examine.

3 - Players who earned their first (non league play) start for Sacramento last week (Evan Newton, Carlos Rodriguez, Matt LaGrassa).

300,000 - Amount in British Pounds that Liverpool paid to Crewe Alexandria for Daniel Trickett-Smith in April 2012. That value is worth approximately $435,000 American.

19 - The Republic's goal differential in the second and third round of the Open Cup since 2014.

3 - Wins by at least three goals for Sacramento in the second and third round of the Open Cup since 2014.

2 - Wins over PDL teams (two games played) for Sacramento the US Open Cup.  Their next round opponent is Kitsap Pumas, also a PDL team.

3 - USL teams that failed to advance to the next round of the US Open Cup (Tulsa Roughnecks, Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Orange County Blues).

1 - USL teams that lost but still advanced due to their opponent breaking the rules by fielding an ineligible player(Charleston Battery).

100 - Percent of USL games this season in which Sacramento's next USL opponent, Swope Park Rangers, has allowed at least one goal.

100 - Percent of USL games this season that Sacramento has won when they score at least one goal.

After a quiet week in league play, Sacramento has shown off plenty players to build confidence in their depth, and has continued to prove that they are a dangerous draw for any team this early in the Open Cup.  Looking forward to next week, every opportunity in the world exists for the Republic to win their third straight game.  Will the numbers be on their side though?
