Sacramento Republic By The Numbers: A July to Forget

Indomitable City Soccer/Alex Leguizamo

A very bad July for Sacramento Republic FC ended with another late game loss.  As the team continues to try and find a way to win without Emrah Klimenta, we once again queue up the sad stat music and dive into the numbers.

4 -€” Consecutive games that Sacramento has given up a goal at the 80th minute or later.

5 -€” Points lost due to those late goals.

5 -€” Games that the Republic has played without Emrah Klimenta being available.

2 -€” Points gained from those five games out of a possible 15.

6 -€” One goal margin losses this season by the Republic.

0 -€” Multiple-goal margin losses this season by the Republic.

5 -€” Other USL teams who have not yet lost by multiple goals this season (Charlotte Independence, Colorado Springs Switchbacks, FC Cincinnati, Rochester Rhinos and San Antonio FC)

50 -€” Republic's win percentage in games decided by one goal.

0.80 -€” Republic's points gained per game in the months of April and July

1.91 -€” Republic's points gained per game in all other months of USL play

7 -€” Goals scored by Cameron Iwasa, tied for 8th in the USL

7 -€” Assists by Danny Barrera, the USL leader.

25 -€” Players who have started at least one game for the Republic this USL season

3 -€” Players who have played in every game for the Republic this USL season (James Kiffe, Barrera, Iwasa)

3 -€” Republic players who have recorded at least 10 shots on goal this USL season (Iwasa -€” 17, Harry Williams -€” 11, Tommy Thompson -€” 10)

The hot and cold streaks continue. After a May and June where Sacramento never lost a single game, they had a winless July, despite only being outscored by two goals all month.  Is this just a cold streak after a hot two months?  Is this something that the fans should be concerned about?  Or is ending up on the wrong side of a few close games a minor slump?
