In what can only be described as a chippy match (three red cards and a penalty kick), Sacramento Republic FC (3-1-0) prevailed over the visiting Seattle Sounders 2 1-0 Saturday night at Papa Murphy’s Park. It was another win and three points for Republic FC despite not playing their best for the third-consecutive week. On the flip side, you could argue that it was the third-consecutive week the Quails scratched out points.
While we’re still talking about Saturday’s match, what was up with Sounders 2? That was some of the worst sportsmanship I’ve seen from a visiting side. The most egregious sequence was after Shannon Gomez drew in penalty in the box (or maybe just outside it) that led to a successful penalty conversion from Adam Moffat.
The stalling and arguing from Sounders 2 was just silly, but it reached a new level of silliness when Francisco Narbon was trying to make a divot at the penalty spot moments before Moffat would take the penalty kick. Bad, bad look for him and Sounders 2. I digress.
Now that the dust has settled, we want your feedback on who you believe was the man of the match. Let us know below (note: must vote from desktop or by opening your browser on your mobile device)!
