Juan Barahona was the only Sacramento Republic FC player recognized on the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 1, the defender making the TOTW bench.
Barahona drew praise for his tireless two-way play, the left back putting in a good shift in Sac Republic’s 1-1 draw against FC Tulsa on Saturday. Phoenix Rising FC newcomer Rufat Dadashov was voted USL Championship Player of the week after notching a hat trick on his debut.

- Skundrich, Grinwis shave heads for good cause: SRFC players Drew Skundrich and Adam Grinwis shaved their heads as a fundraiser for St. Baldrick’s, to battle childhood cancer. Skundrich brought in over $1,300 in donations ahead of “braving the shave.”

- Gearing up for MLS: Sport Business reported last week that Sacramento Republic have hired Elevate Sports Ventures to assist in business projects and ticket sales in preparation of the jump to MLS in 2022. “They’re really an adviser across the board,” said Sacramento Republic president Ben Gumpert in the story. “We only do this once, so we want to make sure it’s successful.”
