Sacramento Republic FC revealed a new fundraiser during the coronavirus pandemic this week, releasing a pre-order on a special-edition “Indomitable City” scarf, with 100% of the net proceeds going to provide free food to seniors in need at this time.
Purchases of the limited-edition scarf through April 30 will help fund a Raley’s Ready to Eat Meals Bag. On top of that, all full-priced gear bought on Sac Republic’s online store will have 15% of proceeds put towards the same program.
Initial orders have funded $10,000 for the program.
“The indomitable spirit of this community never ceases to amaze me,” said Republic FC President and Chief Operating Officer Ben Gumpert in a statement. “During this challenging time, we want to work together to support some of the most vulnerable loved ones, friends, and neighbors among us. We are thankful to have a fanbase who always steps up to support those in need and that is on display now as much as ever.”
In addition, if you know of seniors in Sacramento in need of food, you can nominate them here. You can also make a direct donation to the program on that page.
Among the people delivering groceries to seniors has been Sac Republic head coach Mark Briggs.
Thoroughly enjoyed delivering some @raleys groceries to a few lovely people in my neighborhood today. #IndomitableHands #ItTakesARepublic If you would like to donate and/or nominate, please visit https://t.co/82aWeMjDSg pic.twitter.com/wGqTfzRwg9
