After several close calls in recent games, Sacramento Republic FC forward Cameron Iwasa hit a milestone in his career Saturday, as the local product scored his 50th career goal in USL Championship play against Tacoma Defiance at Papa Murphy’s Park.
Iwasa made a support run on Villyan Bijev’s counterattacking foray in the 32nd minute, and with the Tacoma goalkeeper trying to keep Bijev at bay, the midfielder unselfishly set up Iwasa for an easy tap-in, before Bijev celebrated by holding up a “5-0” with his fingers for Iwasa.

Coincidentally, this game was Iwasa’s 100th career start in USL Championship play for Sac Republic. Since he didn’t spend his whole career with Sacramento, not all 50 goals are with the club, but the majority are and Iwasa is burnishing his legend with his hometown club.
Congratulations to Cameron for the big milestone, and hey, here’s hoping for 50 more goals ahead in the old glory red.
