Sacramento Republic FC announced this week they’re planning to launch a new program, Artist Spotlight, to bring attention to local artists and artwork and to help create opportunities to hear the voices of a diverse cross-section of the region and produce work that celebrates various events and produces innovative merchandise, among other aims.
The Artist Spotlight, presented by Arden Fair, will also provide visual artists opportunities to share their work across various platforms to a new audience through Sac Republic.
“We’re incredibly fortunate to live in a community with passionate and talented creatives that tell the authentic stories of Sacramento – diversity, inclusivity, and the Indomitable spirit – through their art,” said Republic FC Vice President of Marketing Allison Yee-Garcia in a team statement. “Artist Spotlight will extend our commitment to support artists and creators in our community throughout the year and develop more opportunities to showcase their designs.”
The program builds on other initiatives done by the club over the years, including the ongoing partnership with local organization Boards For Change to commission artwork and auction it off to benefit local groups that work with Black youth in and around Sacramento, as well as the annual Fan Can competition that gives Republic FC fans an opportunity to design special-edition beer cans in consultation with the club.
