Thursday was a landmark night for Sacramento Republic FC forward Kharlton Belmar, who made his international debut for Grenada in Concacaf World Cup qualifying, as the Spice Boys fell 2-0 to El Salvador in San Salvador.
Belmar started and played 63 minutes for Grenada, the country from which his parents hail, and while he couldn’t hit the mark in his first game, it was unquestionably the toughest fixture of the current group play, meaning it could be all downhill (or at least more competitive) from here.

Having said that, with only one of five teams in the group advancing from group play, Grenada will have to be stellar the rest of the way if they want to force their way into the final round, and their next clash in qualifying comes on Tuesday when they face the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Congrats to Kharlton on embarking on his international career and please come home healthy!
