Sacramento Republic FC opened their weekend of open tryouts for the 2021 season on Saturday, with a group of young men out there looking to make their professional dreams a reality.
Republic FC head coach Mark Briggs said he was impressed with what he saw on Saturday from the players at the open tryout.
“It was fantastic. We had great numbers out here, good level of play, good quality. It shows a lot of people want to play for Sacramento Republic, which is always nice. Really happy, a good first day,” Briggs said at Mather Sports Complex.

The club has vowed at least one player from this weekend’s open tryouts will be invited to the start of preseason camp, which is scheduled to open Mar. 16. Briggs said nearly the entire current roster under contract is in town now, getting ready for the start of training camp.
“We’re ready to go,” Briggs said. “The offseason’s been way too long. I’m really excited by the group we have, the mentality, the opportunity they have to bring this city, bring this club, bring everyone together to get beyond the team and have a successful season.”
