Sacramento Republic FC are back out on the road after another week-plus hiatus, when they head down to Southern California to face Orange County SC on Saturday evening.
Republic FC have started the season well, winning their first two games, over LA Galaxy II in Carson and against Las Vegas Lights FC at home. I think it’s safe to say the challenge level takes a step up for this latest game, in taking on an Orange County side that is constructed in similar ways to Sacramento.
However, OCSC have only played one game so far this season, on the road last weekend against Tacoma Defiance, and lost 1-0. I think Tacoma are actually pretty good, but chalk Orange County’s struggles up to rust, too. With some more game time they should round into form, although it’s worth wondering if they’ll be clicking against Sac Republic.
Maalique Foster is the only Sac Republic player listed on the injury report for this game, with Orange County missing veterans Adam Jahn and Seth Casiple, both players ruled out for the season this week due to major injuries.
So, both teams will be up for this game, knowing it’s a major opponent, in a division that will likely not be forgiving this season. Will OCSC be the first team to take points off Sacramento, or will Republic FC spoil Orange County’s home opener for the season? This should be a great match.
Odds:
Our partners at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Friday evening have Sacramento at (+150) and OCSC at (+140), with a draw at (+240). Essentially, this one is too close to call coming in, which on balance makes sense.
How to Watch:
Saturday’s match between Sac Republic and Orange County SC will be aired on KQCA My58 and Estrella TV Sacramento in the Sacramento viewing area and streamed on ESPN+ in the rest of the United States. The broadcast is scheduled to start at 7 pm PT at Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine with kickoff to follow.
