The 2021 MLS Next Cup is taking place this week in Frisco, Texas, and Sacramento Republic FC’s academy squads are making noise at the tournament.
Sending the U-15, U-17 and U-19 squads, respectively, to the playoffs, one of just three non-MLS teams to accomplish that feat, the U-17s and U-19s have both made it to the quarterfinal rounds in their age brackets and are looking to go even deeper in the competition.
The U-17s beat Bethesda SC in a penalty shootout to advance to the quarterfinals, with Republic FC GK Adan Corona making a vital save to clinch the win.
The U-17s will next play the Colorado Rapids U-17s on Tuesday at 8 am as they look to continue their run in the tourney.
The U-19s, meanwhile, beat Barça Academy 2-0 to reach the quarterfinals. An Armando Jimenez free kick propelled Sac Republic to the victory.
The U-19s will face CSA-Bergen on Tuesday at 9:05 am PT, and you can watch the livestream of that on MLSsoccer.com. Best of luck to the boys on Tuesday and beyond!

Bravo!! Way to represent!
5-1 from 6 matches across the age groups is outstanding, especially considering the senior team and ownership (effort toward MLS) struggles.

Republic's website shows U-17 and U-19 in MLSNext semifinals.
But their participation isn’t even shown on MLS’ feature today for the same tournament. SRFC is shown only with one loss for U-15’s.
