Beeman’s Republic: Taking a Closer Look at BuckleBall and Tackling Listener Suggested Topics

This week’s Beeman’s Republic may or may not belong in the Guinness Book of World Records under “Most Times ‘BuckleBall’ has been said in a 60 minute period.” But before we get to that, an announcement.

You may or may not know that I covered Sacramento Republic FC for Reckless Challenge prior to starting Indomitable City Soccer and that I started a podcast called Beeman’s Republic during my time there. Beeman’s Republic is the longest running (and only) podcast covering Sacramento Republic and the Western Conference of USL, so without a doubt it belongs here in ICS. However, it was born on and is still presented by Reckless Challenge currently, so it also belongs there for the time being. As a result, Beeman’s Republic will be a show with two homes for the time being: Indomitable City Soccer and Reckless Challenge.

So now that the announcement is out of the way, we can get back to our regularly scheduled Beeman’s Republic.

As the first sentence of this post hinted at, this week’s episode is bursting at the seems with talk of BuckleBall and the changes the new Sacramento Republic head coach has made. It also has somewhere around 20 minutes of audio from Coach Buckle, Thomas Stewart, and Rodrigo Lopez.

The first segment of the show deals primarily with the BuckleBall as we saw it against Seattle Sounders 2 on Saturday. The formation change, the personnel choices, and the change in how the team creates scoring chances are all covered extensively.

The second segment centers around a multitude of topics suggested by listeners, including but not limited to whether or not Rodrigo Lopez was limited by the formation switch and just where in the world Preki is.

The final segment is a short match preview of this weekend’s match against Colorado Springs Switchbacks, one which will be greatly expanded on this Friday when the first ever ICS Match Preview comes out.
