The Blurb - September 8th, 2015

The Republic are in the 2015 playoffs, I repeat, the Republic are now in the 2015 playoffs. Your beloved Republic now have a four game unbeaten streak and are looking very much like a contender. The best part is, Ivan Mirkovic’s suspension is over now as well, so the club will only get stronger in the last 3 games of the season. The Republic can now breathe easy and re-focus on getting home field advantage and if things go right, maybe even go for first place in the conference.

Do we know anything about the potential playoff schedule yet? At least, when the first games will be played? I’m concerned about fatigue. 3 games in 7 days, with quite a bit of travel involved. The nice thing is, all the games are on the West Coast. No trips to OKC or anything. Taking over the number 1 spot in the West would be an awesome accomplishment, given the Republic’s midseason changes and struggles. And with that #1 position, home field advantage. But, looking ahead to the start of the playoffs, I would prefer a healthy and rested team.

Three games in 7 days may actually be a blessing, too. It couldn’t be a better time for the team and Coach Buckle to really figure out how they work best together. Hopefully they will hit their stride and completely develop into a cohesive unit, becoming a feared team right before playoffs. My hope is for the boys to make it through these last three games healthy and with a head of steam as they push for another championship, and a second star above the crest.

The first playoff games will be played the weekend after the regular season ends. The 2015 Media Guide says: “The playoffs will
be played during four (4) weekends (one round per weekend) beginning the weekend
      after the regular season finishes.”
