My name is George Shiel and I write for Indomitable City Soccer (ICS). As a resident of Northern California for the past few decades, I was eager to see more professional sports teams in Sacramento. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Kings fan but Sacramento needed and deserved more. Sacramento Republic FC filled that gap and ICS will keep you connected. I am thrilled to write for ICS and I want to tell you more about me.

Sacramento Republic has been my gateway drug to the beautiful game. Before the Republic came along, I was a casual fan of soccer for over 10 years. I would look forward to the World Cup when it came around, but the excitement usually ended soon after. That all changed the moment the Sac Republic crest was unveiled in 2013. Around that same time my two daughters started youth soccer. In order to help them become better players I needed to learn more, and the more I learned about soccer the more I fell in love with the game. I was hooked.

As one of the new guys at ICS I want to continue the tradition of providing exciting and interesting articles to our readers. I have a background in publications, but ICS will be my first sports writing gig. I will write the traditional stories such as game day features and game recaps, but I will also focus on how soccer is important to our community and Sacramento's place on the national stage. My soccer story interests include Sac Republic moving up to MLS, the new Railyard stadium and the possibility of a National Women's Soccer League franchise.

I feel the future for Sac Republic and Sacramento will be very exciting. Sac Republic has one of the best fan bases in professional soccer and I want to help capture the passion and spread the gospel. Sacramento is a great soccer town and deserves a great forum for the fans. I'm grateful to be able to share my soccer obsession through ICS with the most comprehensive coverage of Sac Republic and USL news.
