The Sacramento Republic FC announced today that their 2019 home jersey will once again feature the popular sash design that was worn by the club in its inaugural season. The desire from fans to see the Republic’s kit once again adopt the original sash design has been talked about for years, so I am guessing that this news will be well-received.
In a statement provided by the club, Republic FC President and COO Ben Gumpert acknowledged as much. “We were able to pay respect to the most popular kit design we’ve ever had and one that our fans have been asking me about in many of our open discussions,” said Gumpert. “Five years ago, Sacramento came together to root on this club under the sash design, and as we embark on our sixth season, we are thrilled to say that the sash is back!”
While the jersey pays homage to the 2014 kit, the detail they were able to incorporate this year makes for a very sharp jersey in my opinion. Particularly, the horizontal lines across the sash look clean and I love that URBS Indomita is inscribed under the edge of the jersey.
