Sacramento Republic FC got back to their winning ways on Wednesday in their first of two matches against Real Monarchs this week, with a goal from Adam Jahn leading the Quails to victory.

The Republic started off the match on the front foot, dominating possession and largely keeping the ball on the Monarchs' side of the field for the first 30 minutes of the match. The team was able to get some shots away in the opening half hour, but most either went high or wide of the goal.

Republic's dominance largely continued for the rest of the first half, with the team getting a few more shots off but not coming up with anything too threatening.

Midfielder Danny Barrera, fresh off a goal against Los Dos on Saturday, got on the end of quite a few of the chances created.

The Story at Half Time

Sacramento Republic FC stats: 0 goals, 0 assists, 7 fouls, 4 corners, 0 offside, 1 save, 8 shots, 2 shots on goal.

Real Monarchs SLC stats: 0 goals, 0 assists, 3 fouls, 2 corners, 0 offside, 2 saves, 3 shots, 1 shot on goal.

The second half started with just a single halftime substitution from Paul Buckle, bringing

The Republic wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard in the second half, with Adam Jahn scoring his first of the season just two minutes into the second half. While the goal was a treat for those at the stadium, those watching at home on ESPN 3 got a slightly different view initially.

Thankfully for those not fortunate enough to be at Bonney Field, the ESPN broadcast woke up from its little nap and was back up in time for a late replay of the goal.

The play began, as many Republic attacks do these days, from the wing with left back James Kiffe receiving a pass from Cameron Iwasa. Kiffe then drove to the end line, sent in a low cross that Jahn just got a foot on to redirect into the back of the net.

Paul Buckle made a move to help the Republic consolidate its lead in the 56th minute, bringing defensive midfielder JJ Koval in for the more attack minded Tommy Thompson.

Cameron Iwasa nearly got his third of the season just a few minutes later in the 60th minute, but his shot from a great position in the penalty area hit the crossbar and went out.

Buckle made another substitution in the 71st minute, bringing on Harry Williams for Adam Jahn. Williams made his presence known right away, pressuring the Monarchs back line and setting up JJ Koval for a headed shot on goal in the 74'.

To help close out the match, Buckle made another defensive minded substitution in the 87th minute, bringing Alfonso Motagalvan on for Danny Barrera.

The Republic continued to look the better of the two sides all the way through to the final whistle. For much of the final few minutes put on a good display of game management, with Octavio Guzman and Harry Williams putting on a clinic in taking the ball to the corner to kill of the clock.
