Sacramento Republic FC has been teasing the public throughout the early part of Friday June 30th. With their live brodcast on Twitter, SRFC announced Roberto Hategan as a part of the team.
Hatagen is a product of the SRFC Academy and is considered by Kevin Nagle to be a testimate to whant our youth academy is accomplishing. He's the first ever SRFC Academy product to be signed to a professional contract.
"I would like to recognize the academy coaching staff. There was an early vision to invest and build in a top academy. Today we are seeing the fruits of that particular labor," said Kevin Nagle, owner of Sacramento Republic FC. "...Roberto is a bright, young talent who honed his skills right here in our own backyard. And he is the first of what we hope to be many signings to our club from Sacramento Republic Development Academy."
After his warm welcome into the club, Coach Paul Buckle had this to say:
"When I say this young man, I was excited; I went to Graham [Smith] straight away and told him we've got a player. He's a great even though he's only been here since he was 15. Hopefully now this is just the start of [signing academy players]. He was 15 when he first started. He showed a great hunger, a desire, a passion, great parents, great people skills. There's gonig to be lots of ups and downs,,,but I really believe he's ready to play for Sacramento Republic and fulfill his potential."
Roberto then proceeded to thank God, his family, friends, coaches, Paul Buckle, and Kevin Nagle. He was then attacked with a plethora of pictures with a face of excitement and eagerness to start.
This marks a significant moment in Sacramento Republic FC's history as they have opened the door to their academy. If everything works out, it would validate what the youth staff is coaching and could provide for more exciting homegrown talent.
