In a match up between two Western Conference elites, Sacramento Republic FC hosted Phoenix Rising FC at Papa Murphy’s Park Saturday night and played to a draw.

Republic FC Manager Simon Elliott would fill out his lineup card as such:

In the 42nd minute, Republic earned their best chance of the first half when Jure Matjasic was was fouled in the box and awarded a penalty kick. Jeremy Hall stepped up to take the shot, but unfortunately for him and the Republic, his penalty kick would sail high.

Rising FC would be the more dangerous team in the second half. In the 69th minute, Jason Johnson hit a shot that appeared to deflect off of Shannon Gomez, which fortunately for the Republic, hit off the top right post.

With the tie, Sacramento moves to 7-3-5 (25 points), while Phoenix also moves to 7-3-5 (25 points). While tied record wise, Rising FC are technically ahead of the Quails on goal differential.

The Republic return to action Wednesday, June 13 when they head to Fresno FC. That match is scheduled for 7pm.
