Sacramento Republic FC returned home Saturday night after a successful two-game road trip last week that saw the Quails secure consecutive wins and six points. Tonight’s match was also the first of three home games in-a-row that the Republic will host between July 21-August 11.

Republic FC Manager Simon Elliott filled out his starting XI as follows:

The Republic would strike first in the 23rd minute by (no surprise) Cameron Iwasa. It was Iwasa’s 10th goal on the season an 25th overall goal with the Republic, which ties him with Rodrigo Lopez on the all-time list. It was a thing of beauty.

Just when it felt like the Republic were going to come away with their third win in-a-row, Energy FC forward Christian Volesky slotted home a low cross from Callum Ross to equalize in the 79th minute. It was yet another late goal allowed from the Republic at home, which has become a consistent theme this season.

The final whistle would blow shortly thereafter, and the match would end in a 1-1 draw.

With the tie, Republic FC move to 10-5-7 (37 points), while Energy FC moves to 6-10-4 (22 points). The Republic return to action on Saturday, August 4 at 8pm when the host Fresno FC.
