Congratulations to Sacramento Republic FC defender Mitchell Taintor for earning the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Goal of the Week for his first half 35 yard banger against Reno 1868 FC last Saturday night. In the event you have been living under a rock and haven’t seen it yet, below is a clip of it in all its glory:

Taintor earned 49 percent of the vote, while Connor Presley from Loudoun United FC took second place with 37 percent for his own long-range goal. It’s also worth mentioning the Taintor’s goal made ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 Saturday night.

We will see a better goal this season from the Republic? It’s certainly possible, but Taintor surely set the bar high.
