The votes are in, and we have a winner in Indomitable City Soccer’s 2020 Sacramento Republic FC Attacker of the Year, no recount necessary: It’s Villyan Bijev.

Bijev scored four goals and two assists in 16 appearances in 2020 for Sac Republic, including the goal the team awarded their Goal of the Year, in the regular-season finale against Portland Timbers 2:

The 27-year-old garnered a whopping 87 percent of the vote for our award, so it was a true landslide victory. Dariusz Formella was a distant 2nd place in the eyes of the voters.

In four seasons, Bijev has made 82 appearances for Republic FC, scoring 12 goals and 10 assists. The playmaker/dribbler also has a knack for getting his own goal, too, and he was once again a key part of the SRFC squad in an incredibly trying 2020 campaign.

Congratulations to Villyan for the award! There were several worthy candidates and you were far and away the people’s choice.
