81st minute: Goal Tacoma. Ray Serrano came off the bench and hit the equalizer, stunning Sacramento. Time to dig deep and lock it down, look for an SRFC winner here.
57th minute: Goal Tacoma. Jesse Daley hits a wicked one-timer off a long rebound to reduce the visitors’ deficit to one.
Halftime: Sac Republic leading 3-1 at the break. Good comeback after going down early, and now they need to keep it up in the second half.

23rd minute: GOOOOOOOOL Sacramento! Tomas Hilliard-Arce scores on his debut with a header off a corner kick. Home side is now in the lead.
8th minute: GOOOOOOOOL Sacramento! Formella scores from the penalty spot after the home side gets a PK. Formella has some words for Tacoma’s GK after the score, too. We’re tied 1-1.

If you can believe it, Sacramento Republic FC are scheduled to return from the four-month coronavirus shutdown with the restart of the USL Championship regular season Monday night against Tacoma Defiance behind closed doors at Papa Murphy’s Park.
No, the coronavirus hasn’t been vanquished, but sports are coming back anyway. And Sacramento Republic will attempt to pick back up in their quest to win a league title this year, and will face a youthful Tacoma side who will be without possible reinforcements from their MLS side, the Seattle Sounders, who are at the MLS is Back Tournament in Orlando.
With the teams being off for so long, it’s truly difficult to gauge how it will go. There’s likely to be plenty of rust and awkward plays, but Sacramento got a good group draw, they’re mostly healthy (only Juan Barahona has been ruled out) and they’re presumably hungry to get back at it. Beyond that, we’ll see how they look when the whistle blows Monday night.
Odds:
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, as of Saturday evening, Sacramento are (-225) while Tacoma are (+450). The odds of a draw are (+320), so the bookmakers think Sacramento are big favorites, even if neither team has played for four months.
How to Watch:
Monday’s match between the Sac Republic and Tacoma will be televised nationally on KQCA My58 in the Sacramento viewing area and ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ in the rest of the United States. The broadcast is scheduled to start at 7 pm PT with kickoff to follow.
