Full time: Sac Republic 2, T2 1. A good second-half rally overturned the result and keeps SRFC’s winning streak alive. Thanks for following along, here’s the full recap from the game.
69th minute: GOOOOOOOOOL Sacramento! Cameron Iwasa gets the go-ahead tally with a nifty little chip over the T2 goalkeeper after another good team buildup. Republic FC now ahead 2-1.
60th minute: GOOOOOOOOL Sacramento! Drew Skundrich gets the equalizer after a great buildup from Republic FC. Game on!
23rd minute: Goal Portland. Jorge Gonzalez has looked lively so far for the visitors, and he opens the scoring for T2. Sacramento need to find an answer now.
Lineups:
Sacramento don’t change from their last game:
Republic XI: Diaz; Apollon, Sargis, Hillard-Arce, McCrary; Skundrich, Lopez, Bijev, Iwasa, Belmar; Formella. Same XI that defeated Tacoma 3-1 last weekend.

Portland go with many of the players that faced Sacramento last time out, but veteran defender Futty Danso, who used to play for the Timbers’ MLS side, has been recently signed and gets the start.

Sacramento Republic FC will look to extend their winning streak to four games and keep holding the top points in Group A as they host Portland Timbers 2 for the teams’ second meeting this season.
Republic FC had a week between games, after beating Tacoma Defiance in Sacramento last time out, with Darek Formella and Cameron Iwasa scoring the goals in that one. They’ll take on a Timbers 2 side that remains winless this season through six games, losing 5-2 last week against Reno 1868.
Listen, anything can happen but this is a game that Sacramento really should win. The first meeting between the teams was narrow, Sacramento dominating but only leaving Portland with a 1-0 win, but considering this one’s at home and Portland have really struggled, Republic FC don’t want to be the first team to give up points to them.
Odds:
As of Friday evening, our partners at DraftKings Sportsbook didn’t have lines out for any USL games on Saturday, so we’ll see if they drop. Needless to say, Sacramento should be huge favorites on the betting lines.
How to Watch:
Saturday’s match between Sac Republic and Portland Timbers 2 will be aired on KQCA My58 and Estrella TV Sacramento in the Sacramento viewing area and streamed on ESPN+ in the rest of the United States. The broadcast is scheduled to start at 8 pm PT at Papa Murphy’s Park with kickoff to follow.
