Sacramento do some rotating, with Frank Lopez and 15-year-old Rafael Jauregui getting the start and Drew Skundrich still out injured.
Tacoma go with this XI:
Sacramento Republic FC will look to get back in the win column with two games left in the regular season, as they face Tacoma Defiance in Washington Wednesday.
Sac Republic have still lost just once this season, but they’re on a three-game run of draws in which the Group A top spot is all but gone for the Quails. But with a playoff spot already secured, there’s still something to play for, as players jockey for the chance to be in the lineup when the playoffs come, and for the team overall to get into a full rhythm ahead of the postseason.
Tacoma have not been a pushover when Sac Republic have played them, but they collapsed in recent weeks, losing twice to rival and former group punching bag Portland Timbers 2 as their outside bid to reach the playoffs disappeared. Having said that, Tacoma did beat Portland in their last game, at the weekend, and they have been a pretty good matchup against Sacramento this season, even if there is a big gap in the standings between the teams.
Will Sacramento get back in the win column? Will Defiance surprise them again? This should be a good one! Follow along with us.
Our partners at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Wednesday afternoon have Sacramento at (-167) and Tacoma at (+350), with odds of a draw at (+275). So Sacramento are big favorites, even on the road. Time to pick up three points, then!
