The last time Sacramento Republic FC were at home, Cameron Iwasa wrote himself into the Republic history books by scoring the fastest goal in team history, an a fantastic shot from distance just 38 seconds into the game. The goal was rightly celebrated by fans in Sacramento as one of the better ones the Republic have scored all season.

And it turns out we’re not the only ones that noticed. Iwasa’s goal is one of ten currently up for USL Goal of the Month.

If Iwasa wins the award, he would be the first Republic player to do so since Thomas Stewart won in August 2015. Interestingly, Stewart’s winning goal was the previous fastest goal in Republic history, coming only 90 seconds after kickoff.
