Christian Eissele up for USL Goal of the Month

Eissele honored for his goal against Las Vegas Lights FC

The United Soccer League (USL) announced earlier this afternoon that Sacramento Republic FC forward Christian Eissele was one of 10 players up for Goal of the Month for April.

It was an incredible goal in terms of style and finish, but equally incredible in that it also secured an important point on the road against Las Vegas City Lights FC. In case you didn’t see the goal or have already erased it from your mind, we’ve included the clip of it again. It should be mentioned that Villyan Bijev delivered a great ball near the post that led to the clever flick.

Taking nothing away from Eissele, I was a little surprised not to see Cameron Iwasa’s goal against Orange County SC also included in this list. It was such a great individual effort, on the road, and against a great side. Maybe there is something about not including more than one Goal of the Month candidate per team? Regardless, I’m going to go ahead and give Iwasa’s goal an honorable mention.

If you would like to vote for Eissele, click here. As of writing this, he currently sits in third place. The deadline to vote is Monday, May 7 at 12pm EST.
