The United Soccer League (USL) released their Week 18 Power Rankings earlier today and Sacramento Republic FC jumped five spots in the rankings from 11th to 6th. It was really no surprise given that the Quails recorded back-to-back road wins against two playoff contenders. One of those wins was against Swope Park Rangers, which was impressive given that Swope Park hadn’t suffered a loss at home since July 2017.
The only other time the Republic have won consecutive road games this season was on May 6 at Seattle Sounders 2 and on May 19 in a 3-1 win at Phoenix Rising FC.
The last week of play is an encouraging sign after what had been an extended stretch of inconsistent play from the team. Can they keep it going this Saturday at home? They will certainly need to if they want to keep pace in a tight Western Conference.
