Sacramento Republic FC hosted FC Juarez of Liga MX Wednesday night in an international friendly at Papa Murphy’s Park. As you would expect, it was an opportunity for Republic FC Manager Simon Elliott to get some run for several academy players, as well time for several of the first team players that haven’t played as much this season. Below was the starting XI for Elliott:

In the 14th minute, FC Juarez forward Leandro Carrijo scored the first goal of the match on what was a nice build up play from the visitors.
The Republic would pull one back in the 34th minute on a Stefano Bonomo strike on a beautifully weighted ball forward by Hayden Partain.

The visitors would get it right back in the 36th minute on a goal by Eduardo Perez to make the score 1-2.
Five minutes into the second half (50th minute), Bonomo would get his brace on a nice header that beat the keeper far post to level the match a 2-2. Credit Republic academy player Aris Yang with the assist.

In the 54th minute, Carrijo added his second goal of the night, with Perez credited with the assist to add to his first half goal.
In the 58th minute, substitute Nate Carrasco pounced on a Republic shot off the crossbar and calmly slotted it right of goal to even the match at 3-3.
In the 90th minute, FC Juarez goalkeeper Ivan Vazquez came up to take the free kick just outside the box after a foul was committed by Carrasco. His left-footed strike slid just under the crossbar to give the visitors a 4-3 advantage that would hold up following two minutes of stoppage time.
Republic FC return to action this Saturday, October 12 when they host Orange County in the regular season finale. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 7:30pm.
