Lineups:

Sacramento go with something approaching a first-choice XI in this one.

Portland roll out with this XI.

Sacramento Republic FC will look to end the USL Championship regular season on a high note as they host Portland Timbers 2 in the regular-season finale Saturday evening.

Sacramento are coming off their second loss of the season, a 1-0 defeat Wednesday in Washington to Tacoma Defiance. That game saw Republic FC head coach Mark Briggs make a lot of changes to his lineup, and I would expect something closer to a “first-choice” starting XI against Portland, to tune up for the playoff game against Phoenix Rising FC in a week’s time.

Since we last saw Portland take on SRFC, they’ve had a real change in fortunes. Winless through their first 10 games, they’ve since gone 3-1-1 in their last five games, and Jorge Gonzalez in particular has been on a tear lately for T2. Add to that, T2 have been a surprisingly tough matchup to Sacramento even as Republic FC have won all of the previous meetings this year, and this may not be anything close to a cakewalk.

Will Sac Republic wake up from the lackluster midweek performance and post a win heading into the postseason? Will Portland spring a surprise to close out their season on a high? This game is going to be fascinating and we’ll see what happens.

Our partners at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Friday evening don’t have USL Championship odds listed. So who knows!
