How to Watch Sacramento Republic vs. Tacoma Defiance: Lineups, odds, game thread

Can Republic FC make it three wins in a row?

Courtesy of Republic FC.

Full time: Sacramento 3, Tacoma 1. Republic FC weather the visitors’ attempt at a rally to pick up three points. Thanks for following along, here’s the full recap from the game.

50th minute: Goal Tacoma. Sam Rogers with a nice tap-in over the top off a corner kick. Blown assignment, as he was completely unmarked there. Now 3-1.

41st minute: GOOOOOOOL Sacramento! Formella scores his second goal of the game, for his second brace against Tacoma this season. 3-0 lead now just before the break.

32nd minute: GOOOOOOL Sacramento! Cameron Iwasa gets No. 50 in USL after Villyan Bijev sets him up for the easy tap-in on the counterattack. Republic FC up 2-0 now.

14th minute: GOOOOOOL Sacramento! Dariusz Formella opens the scoring with the second chance after Cameron Iwasa’s shot was blocked. Republic FC off to a good start!

Lineups:

Rodrigo Lopez and Dariusz Formella return to the XI for Sacramento.

Tacoma will line up with this XI:

Sacramento Republic FC are scheduled to be back in action Saturday night in familiar confines, as they host Tacoma Defiance for the second time in 2020.

Republic FC are coming off a second consecutive 1-0 win, the latest one over Reno 1868 FC in Reno Wednesday. After stumbling in their first road game of the season, Sacramento have won their last two and are unbeaten in three road games, and now they get to come back home to Papa Murphy’s Park.

Tacoma have had a week off, and lost their last game, 2-1 against Reno last Saturday. Defiance are five points behind Sacramento at present, but I think we know after the previous meeting between these teams that Tacoma’s squad of youngsters can’t be taken lightly.

And if you forgot about the previous match between the teams, they played each other in the re-opening game of the season back in July, with the game ending in a wild 3-3 draw. Tacoma scored in the opening minute, before a brace by Dariusz Formella helped give Republic FC a 3-1 lead. But two goals in the second half from Tacoma meant the points were shared on that day. What will happen this time around? Should be a good one, we’ll find out soon.

Odds:

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, as of Saturday afternoon, Sacramento are (-215) while Tacoma are (+445) and the odds of a draw are (+305). Republic FC are huge favorites, but I suspect the line is as big as it is because there probably aren’t a ton of people betting on Tacoma, I think the teams actually match up better than the odds are saying.

How to Watch:

Saturday’s match between Sac Republic and Tacoma Defiance will be aired on KQCA My58 and Estrella TV Sacramento in the Sacramento viewing area and streamed on ESPN+ in the rest of the United States. The broadcast is scheduled to start at 8 pm PT at Papa Murphy’s Park with kickoff to follow.
