The (probably?) first preseason game for Sacramento Republic is right around the corner, as they’ll take on the Seattle Sounders Wednesday in a closed-door proceeding.
If you’re looking for some info on how the depth chart is looking for Republic FC, the club has provided position previews of players on the roster. Bear in mind two things here: The digital staff usually aren’t hanging around the coaching staff to get up-to-the-minute info about player decisions so one player being touted on the club website may not be rated as highly as the coaches; And the roster could be going through some changes. It seems like Sac Republic is fairly set on their squad, but there’s always room to make moves, especially in preseason, so nothing is locked in stone at this point.
If you’re a new fan of Sacramento, this is a good spot to get your bearings on the roster at present.
More news for your Tuesday:
- New 916 Republic podcast: The guys talk USMNT/USWNT happenings, SRFC preseason and more around USL.
- Republic rivals dubbed “must-see soccer”: May not warm Sacramento Republic hearts, but over on the USL Championship website Nicholas Murray argues Reno 1868 are the most exciting team to watch in the division, because they score in bunches. Can Sacramento get one (or more) over on their rivals in 2020?
- The chatter: Looking at social media, it appears fans are disappointed that Sac Republic only have one open-door preseason match, Feb. 29 against Real Monarchs at Papa Murphy’s Park. Obviously preseason is a time to prep for the real campaign ahead, but it is a bit understandable the fans are disappointed there’s not an opportunity to watch a few informal scrimmages if they like.
Today’s question: Which spot of the Republic FC is still in need of bolstering? Let’s chat about that and whatever you like in the comments below!
